As we reach the height of summer, the Algarve is buzzing with music, festivals, food and culture. Whether you're a long-time local or visiting the region during the warmer months, there’s no shortage of things to do. Our team at QP Savills has gathered a selection of standout events happening across the Algarve in July and August. From lively medieval reenactments to relaxed seafood evenings by the sea, this is the perfect time to explore and enjoy the very best of our region.

 

Silves Beer Festival
Silves | 16–20 July | Free entry
Back for another round, this iconic event brings a modern twist to one of Portugal’s most historic beer festivals. Expect a festive atmosphere in the heart of Silves, with a wide range of beer, street food, and live entertainment.

 

The Artists Dream
Sítio dos Quartos | Now until 6 July
Hosted every three years by the Cavelti family, this open-air art exhibition showcases local talent on their private estate. This year’s theme, “dreams”, promises creativity, reflection and stunning pieces – we recommend visiting at sunset.

 

Noitada Portimão – Festival of Light, Art and Culture
Portimão | 25–26 July | 7 pm–10 pm | Free entry
Portimão lights up for two unforgettable nights. Wander through glowing installations, enjoy live music and street performances, and experience the magic of video mapping on the city’s buildings.

 

Ria Formosa Festival
Faro | 31 July–10 August | 6 pm–2 am | Free entry
A must for seafood lovers. This beloved food festival celebrates the local flavours of the Ria Formosa with daily entertainment and the freshest shellfish served in a vibrant setting near Faro’s old town.

 

Sardine Festival
Portimão | 5–10 August | 6 pm–Midnight | Free entry
A summer classic. Head to the Portimão riverside for delicious grilled sardines, local crafts, and nightly performances. A true celebration of Algarve tradition.

 

Olhão Seafood Festival
Olhão | 9–14 August | 7:30 pm–1:30 am | From €5–€10
Held in the scenic Jardim Pescador Olhanense, this culinary celebration offers top regional dishes and nightly concerts, all in a relaxed seaside setting.

 

Medieval Days
Castro Marim | 27–31 August | From 3 pm
Step back in time with one of the Algarve’s most atmospheric festivals. With falconry, street theatre, jousting, medieval music and traditional food, the entire town of Castro Marim transforms into a scene from centuries past.

 

White Night
Loulé | 30 August | Free entry
A glamorous farewell to the summer season. Dress in white and enjoy a night of music, dancing, food stalls and surprises throughout the town. Always a QP Savills favourite!
